Theresa Caridi, MD, FSIR, is an Associate Professor and the Division Director of Interventional Radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). After attending the University of Florida for medical school and Radiology residency, Dr. Caridi completed a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania. The first seven years of her career were spent at Georgetown in Washington, D.C., before joining the faculty at UAB.
Dr. Caridi is dually board certified in Radiology and Interventional Radiology. She currently serves as the Division Director of Interventional Radiology and Vice Chair of Interventional Affairs for the Department of Radiology at UAB. As a result of her longstanding dedication to the study of women’s health interventions and advocacy for women’s health patients, she holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UAB.
Dr. Caridi is an active member of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) and is presently serving as Chair of the SIR Foundation Board of Directors. Dr. Caridi is an active editorial board member and reviewer for premiere medical journals within her specialty.
Special interests include the treatment of uterine fibroids and other uterine conditions, pelvic venous insufficiency/varicocele, prostate hyperplasia, kidney cancer, and pulmonary AVMs. She is a national/international lecturer, teacher, and active publisher on research related to these topics. Dr. Caridi’s care includes the full spectrum of IR and along with her team, she strives to provide treatment for her patients in the same manner she would want for her own family member.
