Dr. Shin is a Professor of Radiology at Asan Medical Center, University of Ulsan College of Medicine, which is the premier medical institution in South Korea. Now he is the Vice-President (President-elect) of KSIR (2023-2024). He completed a residency in Radiology (1995-1998) and fellowship (1999-2000) at the Asan Medical Center. His special interest is embolization therapy (especially GI bleeding and postpartum hemorrhage), lymphatic intervention, genitourinary intervention, enterostomy, as well as new treatment for HCC. Development and clinical application of various interventional devices are also his strong parts. His contributions have a significant impact in the current understanding of the effects of metallic stents in the treatment of benign strictures, and the potential therapeutic strategies to prevent tissue hyperplasia and prolong stent patency. He has been doing a lot of experiences of animal experiments based on career of a dedicated research professor from 2002 to 2005, and now has over 370 SCI(E), peer reviewed publications as a first or corresponding author and 15 book chapters.
